Adorable story
Delightful, cute, and detailed illustrations.
The story is actually a little sad in places, but ends on a note of hope and finding your place. It's one of those stories that kids can certainly enjoy, but that adults will "get" the emotional impact of a little better. I read that the authors created this story as a sort of catharsis for having, in real life, lost their father at sea, and it shows, but the story is not depressing.
I prefer stories to read to children that are for children, but are not dumbed down or one-note. This certainly fits that bill.
It very much reminds me of Cloverleaf Corners sorts of animals, with bunny dressmakers and cobblers and fishermen, in a much simpler time. And, again, very cute and elegant drawings, which made me pick it up in the first place.
Such a sweet book! Can't wait to give it to my daughter for Easter!!
